Scotts Flowers visits Holland

Last week, myself and my father, Robert Palliser Sr. were foruntate enough to take a trip to Holland last week. The Netherlands is considered the top country with the finest flowers of the world. Absolutely exquisite flora and world renowned. This is also where Scotts Flowers gets most of their flowers imported from! The trip consisted of our suppliers showing us the flower growing and purchasing process (considered the "auction"), growers in the area, and the FloraHolland Trade Fair Aalsmeer 2011.

Below are pictures of some of the best growers in Holland. Absolutely amazing!

For three days the FloraHolland Trade Fair Aalsmeer will be the place for the floriculture industry to do business. Exporters, wholesalers and their domestic and foreign customers can find a comprehensive range of flowers, plants, product concepts, trend presentations and new products. This year, the trade fair will be expanded once again and in total, there will be more than 650 growers' stands as well as a number of themed plazas. Wedding at the Central Park Boathouse

This past Columbus Day weekend, Scotts Flowers had the pleasure of creating a beautiful wedding at the Central Park Boathouse. The weather was absolutely amazing. The lovely couple surely enjoyed a gorgeous weekend in the park.

The elegant flower arrangements went hand in hand with the weather. The flowers included exquise mango callas, white tulips, red dahlias, and gold cymbidiums. The atmosphere was truly incredible. Take a look at the pictures below which captured the beauty. Pictures by Steve Worth Photography!

Fashion Week in NewYork found the city exciting with everyone bustling about....when passing the historical "Lord & Taylor" on 5th Avenue (38th/39th Street) we found the department store to have a wonderful collage of photographs of New York City's unique and fascinating places to see and visit. Among the store's famous front window, the collage featured "Scotts Flower Shop" among their photographs. Our two landmark bears sitting afront Scotts Flower Shop, along with the adored pet cat "Scottie" are a must visit for a day in New York. If you can, take a moment to visit our beautiful store front. Entourage has not only been one of HBO’s most acclaimed series but ranks high as one of the entertainment industry’s most incisive and savage satires of itself. As the Hollywood adventures of movie star Vincent Chase and his cohorts launches its final season, the Paley Center gave Scotts Flowers the chance to beautifully decorate their premiere event. It was a pleasure!

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

This past Tuesday, Scotts Flowers had the opportunity to provide floral decor for the film promotion of Lisa See's bestselling book 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan'. The film comes to theaters tomorrow, July 15th. The beautiful flower arrangements included orange Tiger Lillies, Vanda Orchids, Mango Callas with Sweet William. The oriental arrangements were made in low glass vases with black river stones and accented with lily grass. Take a look!

Early Spring at Tribeca Rooftop

A sunny, early spring Sunday at Tribeca Rooftop was made even more beautiful with these striking wedding centerpieces. The deep rich colors were gorgeous and vibrant in the natural light! To satisfy the bride's request for shades of blue and purple, the flowers used were fragrant hyacinth, anemones, dainty grape hyacinth, kale, hydrangea, deep purple asters, thistle, iris, and lisianthus with Blue Bird roses for contrast.

Just look at these colors! Steve Worth, one of our favorite photographers had a great time capturing the centerpieces in natural morning light. Each piece was a slightly different combination of the same floral selection, making it more interesting for the guests (and the photographer!) as they mingle throughout the room.

Shades of lavender have been popular for years but we are now seeing an interest in deep, saturated blues and purples for weddings. We came across this image and realized how much we loved this place card table set up we did for one of our greatest clients.

This spring wedding was held at Abigail Kirsh Tappan Hill featuring centerpieces of cherry blossoms accented with pinned jade cymbidium orchid as trees growing out of the center of the tables.

On this actual arrangement- we covered the vase in layers of green thai leaves for that special touch.

Tribeca Rooftop was a cocktail party

all the way.

Their setting was casual chic and all about having fun celebrating their special day with their closest friends and family.

The look they went for was of romance with the use of various sized candles. For their larger family tables they chose to do clear vases filled with dried tree branches and hanging votive candles. This has been done before but... it's a good reminder of how ECO - Friendly, and beautiful, this look is.

We're very happy to share with you these wonderful images we were sent from Cristina & Danny Fong. The flowers which featured all different shades of red blossoms which symbolize all good fortunes in the Chinese culture.

The venue of course is the Jersey City Hyatt with their Manhattan Ballroom featuring panoramic views of New York and Jersey City - and Salsa Legend Larry Harlow and his 18 piece Latin Band was their best surprise for their guests.

The guests were greeted for cocktail hour with a splendid arrangement of White Japanese Cherry blossoms accented with pinned Mont Blanc "white" cymbidium orchids in a bed of white

hydrangeas in a layered Thai leaf covered vase, and this was done purposely to keep the guests from the red color inspired ballroom surprise.

An imported selection of different variety of Red blossoms such as roses and hybrid dark amaryllis accented with large cymbidium orchids in gold revere bowls were on every guest table and was the overall color scheme for the dinner reception which included linens and lighting.

And lets not forget the cake! A towering structure masterpiece by Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken over 4.5' high with matching handmade sugar flowers!

Definitely a night that no one will ever forget.

Did anyone say Peonies?

Who said peonies were only available in May? We get them imported from Holland - yes they are a bit more money than when they are local in May but these are worth every penny on top of a big acknowledgment from that special recipient. Here we sent a simple special arrangement of Sarah Bernhardt Peonies accented with Bupleurum in a gross grain ribbon accented black glass vase.

Not bad for $85~

Diaz - Fong Wedding Preview

Here is the centerpiece of the Diaz - Fong Wedding featuring Black Magic roses, Charlotte roses, Benifica Burgundy Amarillys and Specimen Red Cymbidium orchid blossoms in a bed of silver seeded eucalyptus.

This is for sure one of the most amazing weddings that we will produce this year as its inspiration comes from the clients Cuban - Chinese heritage and it will be reflected throughout the event with Chinese pin tucked custom linens and red and gold lighting and a 18 piece Latin band to top it off a cake masterpiece that is crazy tall!

It will be a fun one and we will post the photos as soon as we get them.

Here are some pictures of this great couple - they sure are made for each other and a lot of fun!

I call this... A wedding in a great venue! This hotel has an amazing view of New York day and night and the hotel's catering manager and staff are wonderful to work with.

As I was returning to New York I took the West Side Highway and could see across the river - the flash was going paparazzi style and the pink lighting of the Manhattan Ballroom glowed.

These great pictures were given to me by photographer Faith West and she is from Philadelphia, PA.

Kristin well... she was one of my best and dearest clients and she is in the top 10 Brides of last year! She was fun, outgoing and outspoken and she was DIVA!

Wedding in the Hamptons!

Marcella and Dr. Lou married on September 30th 2007 they are great friends of mine and I was honored to take care of the overall decor on their special day.

A perfect late summer day with their closest relatives and friends in a landmark church and the reception following at the residence of their great friends Mr. and Mrs. Rocco Basile.

The ceremony promptly started at two and the bride arrived to the church with her father in a vintage 1974 ivory Mercedes Benz convertible with Rocco at the helm of the wheel.

After the ceremony the guests arrived to the cocktail reception were caipirinhas were served as guests entered the Basile Property.

The Dinner reception was in a peaked white tent with long banquet style tables featuring arrangements of Dutch Roses in lavenders and soft apricot with green Lucadendron blossoms accented with soft green Queen Annes Lace.

The table also featured crystal cachepots topped with green grapes and petite italian plums in which guests asked me throughout the reception how I got them and I said it was a project!

The night was spectacular and the evening glowed past midnight with the celebration.

Its almost a year now and it feels like it was yesterday - happy for them.
